The Watermillock Painting Group meet every Wednesday afternoon in the main Hall. 1.30 - 4 pm

The group was formed in 2001 by a number of experienced amateur artists who live in Watermillock and the surrounding areas. The group size is kept small (maximum 15) due to limited space and to enable individual attention is provided during full day workshops and demonstrations by professional artists which are held on a regular basis. Since our formation members have held many successful exhibitions, at Watermillock Village Hall and The Moot Hall, Keswick.

For enquiries on membership, please contact Alan Bowman. Tel 017684 86936 or Email Alan at: lakecottages@talktalk.net

PRESS RELEASE

WATERMILLOCK PAINTING GROUP – EASTER 2010 EXHIBITION

An exhibit of the famous Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh original work and letters is currently on display in London. One of Vincent’s most famous subjects was a vase of sunflowers of which he painted several.

montage

As part of their 10th Exhibition, the Watermillock Painting Group on Ullswater have produced their own 32 piece montage from one of his famous sunflower paintings. The assembled painting measures about 6ft x 4ft and will be on display from Easter Saturday 3 April – Easter Monday 5 April at Watermillock Village Hall at Ullswater in the Lake District.

www.watermillockvillagehall.co.uk

Members of the group have individually painted two A4 sections using different techniques and media such as pastel, watercolour, pen and ink, crayons, acrylic etc. In addition each artist was given the freedom to express themselves by choosing their own colour scheme. To Vincent colour was his main symbol of expression that led to him producing  some 900 paintings and writing some 800 letters during his short life.

The completed montage will be on display throughout the exhibition along with over 100 original paintings by the group including many depicting local Lake District scenery.

The exhibition is open from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm each day and offer refreshments, lunch and afternoon teas. Entry and parking is free.

Further information can be obtained via the group’s programme secretary, Alan Bowman lakecottages@talktalk.net
